It’s no secret that the fashion industry is one of the least eco-friendly industries around. Fast fashion accounts for millions of tonnes of waste per year, and promotes a culture of overconsumption. Yet, fashion is an important aspect of culture, individuality, and art. It’s often hard for companies, designers, and consumers to find a balance between the two. Sustainability has become a buzzword in our world today. In theory, that’s great news, as we have more companies and brands accepting their role in climate change. These brands are making a difference by changing their procedures and supply chain processes.

We still have a long way to go. We need more brands to get on board in order for the industry to make real change. That’s where the Draper’s Sustainable Fashion Conference comes into play.

What is the Drapers Conference?

The Drapers Sustainable Fashion Conference is a one-day conference that speaks on the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry. Taking place on March 11, 2020 in London, this event brings together leaders from fashion and environmental industry.

The event will host over 300 professionals—from brand and retailer leaders, to supply chain experts and technology innovators. Together, we can learn from and help each other implement sustainable, forward-thinking strategies in our own brands and businesses. Participants can learn valuable information on a wide variety of fashion and sustainability topics through engaging and educational sessions.

You can tailor your day according to your needs, as The Drapers Conference offers different sessions. There are talks, panels, interactive workshops, and networking periods throughout the day. Sessions include a panel discussion on collaborating with suitable NGOs for your business, and a power talk on how to identify and avoid greenwashing. With 23 sessions to choose from, you are sure to find a topic that closely matches your needs.

Throughout the day, the conference holds an event, called Draper’s Den. It is an event wherein start-up companies can pitch their innovative ideas. A panel of expert judges would give feedback, and vote for the best pitch.

This friendly competition allows small businesses to gain exposure and learn from others. It’s a great addition to a great conference.

The Awards

Throughout the day, the Drapers Conference offers its attendees to brainstorm, network, and learn from each other. On top of that, the conference offers sustainability awards.

Companies making strides in eco-friendly ways are encouraged to enter. By joining, they show their customers their commitment to make a change in the industry. It’s a great way to show off the changes they’ve made, and encourage others to do the same.

The awards ceremony takes place on May 21, 2020—two months after the conference. The conference is a chance to meet with the change-makers in a friendly and collaborative environment.

The Drapers Sustainable Fashion Conference is a place for companies to come together and find ways to implement lasting, sustainable change. There is a big problem in fashion, and Drapers Conference hopes to change it through innovation, collaboration, and education.
